Our holiday homes are both located in the village of Lousã. Because this village is centrally located in the green heart of Portugal, it is an excellent base to discover Portugal. But also the village and the surrounding mountains have enough that is worth discovering.
In the historic center of Lousã we have our holiday home “Serra da Lousã”. The apartment on the first floor offers facilities for 4 people. In the future, the ground floor will be transformed into an apartment for 2 people. When this is done, both apartments can also be rented together as one holiday home for 6 people.
The luxury holiday villa “Casa do Soito” is located on the road to the castle and the natural swimming pool. This villa is equipped for 10 people. The house is located above the village and therefore has a beautiful view over Lousã and its surroundings.
Serra da Lousã
Both our holiday homes are located at the foot of the Serra da Lousã. The “Serra da Lousã” offers many opportunities for hiking or mountain biking. From both “Casa do Soito” and holiday home “Serra da Lousã” the mountains are easily accessible.
The highest peak, “Alto do Trevim”, has an altitude of 1200 meters. On a clear day, you can see the Atlantic Ocean on the horizon from this point. You can also swing here on a large swing with a view over the valley or even further. Or you descend like a bird, with a paraglider. For the daredevils on the mountain bike, there is the downhill course where the world cup downhill is also ridden.
In addition, you can visit several old mountain villages of slate, where the hard and lonely mountain life is clear. There are also many wild animals in the “Serra da Lousã” such as deer, boar and foxes that regularly show themselves.
Lousã…
… has a historic centre with buildings from the 16th century and is located at the foot of the “Serra da Lousã”. The village has an old town centre, with beautiful historic buildings such as the town hall, the church, the 16th-century chapel and numerous old houses, which are built in the traditional style of the region. In addition to the historic buildings, there are also many cosy terraces and restaurants where you can sit down to have a drink or eat. Near the castle is a natural swimming pool and the hermitage of Nossa Senhora de Piedade, both of which are worth a visit and can be easily reached on foot from our holiday homes.
The surroundings of our holiday homes
As mentioned before, Lousã is centrally located. From here there are several sights to visit. For example, you can think of the university city of Coimbra. This old town is about 25 kilometres away from Lousã. You can visit this city by private transport or by public transport.
In addition, you are by car in about 1 hour on the beautiful white beaches of the Silver Coast.
But also the Torre, the highest mountain peak in the mainland of Portugal, located in the National Park “Serra da Estrela” is only 96 kilometres away.
Furthermore, we can name many beautiful places in the area that are definitely worth a visit.
